OHEISVASARA Biography

Oheisvasara was a hardcore punk band based in Helsinki, Finland. They were active from 1993 to 2001. The band had a lot of lineups over the years, with vocalist Une Helo (also credited as Unebomber) and guitarist Janne Perttilä (also credited as PJ Aamonhammer) being the only ones finally remaining from the original lineup.

Original drummer Toni was kicked out because of his ultra-right wing opinions. He was subsequently replaced by Jere Suvanto.

The band became fully functional and got a name in 1994 after original bassist Antti Halonen joined. He left in March 1996 and was temporarily replaced by Jani Koskinen (better known from Aurinkokerho, Manifesto Jukebox and I Walk the Line).

During the course of the year the band also had multiple other temporary members. A more permanent lineup was formed when Uosu (also credited as XUosuX, also known as the vocalist of 50x50) (bass) and Mariska (also credited as Mariskaaos) (vocals) joined the band in October 1996.

Oheisvasara had some posthumous attention drawn to them when Mariska mentioned them in several interviews after making a breakthrough as one of the first female MC's in Finland. Mariska left the band when she moved to study in England in September 1998. After Mariska's departure, she was replaced by Mari.

The third-longest lasting member of the band, drummer Jere left the band in March 1998. He was replaced by Pete Niskanen (also credited as Lalli or Peter Crass), who subsequently moved to play bass after Uosu's departure in 1999. Saku played drums on the last 7", Pilaat huomisen jo tänään.
