A dead route for anarchist politics, to be honest, most punks are too anti organizational and anti-political in general to be attracted to serious political organization.

Punk is alive. I agree with AndersB, everything evolves. There will always be punk bands, always.

People's been saying punk's dead since it started. Everything in life change, I'm different than I was 10 years ago, does that mean I'm dead too?

Exactly, and that's just scratching the surface. You can never have a subculture be fully "killed" or have it die on you. There will always be some people who pick it back up and keep marching.

The mainstream punk/hxc "scene" is exploding. At least in melbourne. Although the legitimate "punk" scene is practically non existant:(

Punk died as soon as it became commodified.

Also, anarcho-punk is irrelevant to class struggle.

Well, it depends how you look at it. If you mean punk as in punk music, then it's definitively not dead. But if you take punk as a subculture, then you could probably say it has seen better times... For me the term "Punk's not dead" is just a title of an album from The Exploited band or just something drunk punx used to shout in the 80's. But than again if you look at the bands like Blik 182, Green Day, The Offspring and others alike, you can easily say that punk was murdered.

One thing is certain though - PUNK HAS CHANGED!

I watched that 2007 documentary, 'Punk's Not Dead', thinking "What the fuck are you on about? Punk is totally dead."
But Dick Lucas was in it! I just figure, if musicians from The Damned, UK Subs, Subhumans, Sham 69, 999, and X, and all these other old punks believe punk isn't dead then I guess they'd know. As long as the Subhumans are playing shows in crowded sweaty basements, then it's not dead.

Although the documentary also featured The Offspring, Green Day, and NOFX, and said they were punk. :@

Again, I don't think it is. If it was dead, then why are we still listening to the music and making zines about the culture if it was dead? You can't kill off a subculture, it will always live on. Or at least that's what I think.

When I got into punk about 4 years ago, almost 5 now, the scene was great, and now it's even better than it was, it will just keep growing.

Personally, why are we worried if punk is dead or not? There are bigger fish to fry I think.

seriously? because crass said so? how old are you?
a quick search on Tim Armstrongs internet wholesale page "Machete mfg" brought up this: http://www.machetemfg.com/index.asp?Pag ... PRODSEARCH
so, yeah of course crass thinks punk is dead when they allow profit-oriented interestorganizations sell their merch for fuckall lots of money, but of course, this would be limited to them.
fucking "beanies" and hand bags? what the fuck. crass is fucking shit.

Punk to me is a state of mind and the essence of my life.
Punk never died, it just went underground
