    Dresden: 20,000 anti-fascists against 2000 Nazis

    de.indymedia, translated by Diet Simon 21.02.2011 02:53

Mounting many varied blockading actions, 20,000 anti-fascists from all over Germany and other European countries prevented a planned large-scale Nazi march in Dresden on Saturday 19 February. There were massive clashes with police acting extremely brutally. They attacked the blockers with batons, pepper spray, water cannons, armored vehicles and newly acquired pepper-ball guns. Several people were seriously injured. But the brutal police violence didn’t stop the broad spectrum of activists who’d traveled to Dresden from making its center impassable for the fascists.

In addition to mass squats, in the old quarter there were also many barricades.
Only about 2,000 fascists of both sexes had dared to go to Dresden and failed with every attempt to carry out demonstrations.

Even a spontaneously demonstration called by them in nearby Leipzig ended on the rails of its main railway station before it even began.

All in all a very successful day for the anti-fascist movement in Germany.
Naturally not everyone is happy about that.

While the Nazis are sulking, the Saxony police are also proving sore losers and on Saturday stormed the press office of the “Dresden Nazi-free” alliance.
The alliance people present were forced to strip naked and submit to a registration of personal data.

Information available so far is that they’ll be charged with conspiracy and public incitement to criminal acts as well as breaches of public order.
The raiding police took all computers and storage media. That has led so far to 79 arrests of anti-fascists.

well, there were lots of polish and russian comrades with us, brave people constantly facing their own endangerment without regard to themselves - they are more than awake already.
i guess most of them would be more than glad to have only "our" german rabble to fight, theirs is a quite different quality sometimes, keeping them more than awake already...

    bad loosers aftermath:
the site Dresden-Nazifrei.de has been closed down on demand of the state office of criminal investigation saxony, the obvious "reason": nonviolent mass blockades are criminal and extremist... and the site was calling for continued action against the scum - i hope they get back online soon, protests and legal action are on the way.
harald thome is a lawyer who made up a fax to protest against the raids in dresden, the download is under:
    http://www.harald-thome.de/media/files/ ... resden.doc
bit of a replacement and for information untill dresden-nazifrei.de is back may be:
    http://www.no-pasaran.mobi/
the police action is widely critisized, especially the 200 fascists attacking on the youth project Löbtau right under the eyes of some riot cop units - both groups left only after a massive block of comrades were on the way to clean up the scene, so only the building took some damage from stones, bottles and iron bars.
the left party considers to file a report because of the evening raid on their bureaus at the "haus der begegnung"... and some of their members are trying to stir up some twitter action to apply some pressure on the saxon state to evade further image damage, dresden is a tourist's city...
    :D

Sorry what I meant was the Russian general population, I know the Antifa comrades in Russia are doing all they can and are very awake and are the ones suffering losses, but the state and the general population seem to be behind the boneheads or just apathetic...

the vice-president of the german parliament Wolfgang Thierse (SPD) is facing trouble with the law:
after his participation in a sit-blockade of the central station in dresden and an interview with the MDR-television in which he reported that the police was completely occupied with protecting the nazis and gave his opinion that "this is saxon democracy", the deputy head of the police department oberes elbtal/ osterzgebirge, andreas arnold, has brought charges against Thierse for insulting the police forces.
arnolds argument: saxon cops and their cronies from the other federal states have to feel insulted by this statement of one of the highest representatives of the federal republic, a speaker of the police office said.

the police has admitted mishaps with razzia raid
    http://www.freiepresse.de/NACHRICHTEN/R ... 597345.php - german only
(LKA) said it was only a formal mistake - opposition demands clarification by the state government
three days after a much debated razzia in dresden the state coffice or criminal investigations admitted mishaps on tuesday. the search warrant was proposed for a house in the "grossenhainer strasse 86 a" - but the heavily armed cops stormed the "grossenhainer strasse 90" - with the bureaus of the left party, but the group that organized "dresden nazifrei" resides in a another building with the street number 86 a.
a speaker of the LKA in dresden explained in a written statement, that this was a negligible mistake and that the raid wasn't against the law.
the public prosecutor's office gave a similiar statement, "the right building was searched, but the wrong address was on the order to go into action".
in the raided building with the street number 93 are the bureaus of the left party, some other clubs and a lawyer. in the building with the street number 86 a the left club has it's headquarters, the raid of the cops was directed against against this club and it's rooms.
masked cops stormed the house after the riots in dresden, the investigators suspected that from the building with the streetnumber 93 calls for illegal actions were made.
left and green party demanded a fast clarification about the raid from the state government. justice minister jürgen martens (liberals FDP) should give a comprehensive report about the the procedures. there have to be very serious suspicions of criminal behaviour to justify such a massive action.
the left party protested again against the raid and called it "quite excessive and disproportionate."
The police operation lasted five hours. according to witness reports about 20 people had to sit tied up for hours on the floor and partly to strip down to their underwear. Prosecutors explained the raid with an acute suspicion of crime, therefore determined unknown persons were being investigated for serious breach of the peace.

    nice joke along the way:

EAST GERMAN ECONOMY PROPOSED AN ALLIANCE AGAINST NAZIS
After violent riots in Dresden the East German economy is proposing an alliance of political and judicial powers and police against neo-Nazis
Leipzig. The East German economy has proposed an alliance against neo-Nazis after the riots in the recent marches of right-wing extremists in Dresden. "All parties must comply with the policy to a table, so that such incidents are impossible in the future, " said Wolfgang See, spokesman for the three chambers of Saxon industry and commerce, to the Leipziger Volkszeitung (Tuesday edition). He suggested that politics, judiciary and police agree on a more coordinated approach with social workers(edit by me!). :o

Even the spokesman for the East German employers' associations, Hartmut Bunsen, told the Journal that scenes like in dresden do harm to the economy in Saxony and befoul the image of eastern Germany.
"That scared investors and foreign specialists, which we so desperately need in the future," quoted the "Leipziger Volkszeitung. Which skilled workers or engineers will come to East Germany if he must be afraid of discrimination, said Bunsen. (DAPD)
