I'm a fan of a lot of experimental stuff like math rock, post rock, noise, freeish and somewhat experimental jazz etc.

Recently been really digging this post rock band called Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The songs are pretty long, often droney and usually instrumental, but it's good shit. I think they're often associated with anarchism, too. They're about as political as a instrumental band can be (which is more than you'd think).

I just listened to Sleep's "Dopesmoker", which is a brilliant doom metal/ stoner metal album, if you're into that.

If you want super noisey, super disorienting, difficult, abrasive, dissonant, frenetic, percussion-gasm drum driven music w/ insane samples, check out Zach Hill - Face Tat.

Oh, and one of the samples is someone pissing on a stack of rolling stone magazines. I'm still trying to pick that out, but good stuff.

But, y'know, I'm gonna stop spamming this thread with non anarcho music recs for a while.

Paczilla: any specific folk artists? Apart from folk punk stuff like Ramshackle Glory, Andrew Jackson Jihad etc., I'm not terribly familiar with too many folk artists

I mostly listen to crust but every now and again I like to rock out to some 80's power metal. Love me some Iron maiden.

Oohs Sleep's Dopesmoker is so good.

I listen to classical, baroque, acid jazz, industrial, thrash metal, folk, gypsy, reggae, random stuff I find at libraries/people's houses...

If it fits my definition of good, I listen to it. Don't really limit myself to Punk musick.

I would rather stick a drill into each ear and pull the triggers than listen to ANY of the new shit comming out right now. What the fuck is going on, world?

Oh, I love me some folk music, especially bluegrass. There's lots of old school classics from the 60's that are excellent. There's also the blues and jazz. I dip my toes into death metal/thrash metal now and then. I also enjoy indie tunes like The Mountain Goats, Father John Misty, and Right Away, Great Captain! Not to mention some of the psychedelic rock revival bands; The Wolf People, Black Mountain, etc. Then comes a dash of electronic music. Shpongle and The Chemical Brothers are two of my personal favorites.
I've mostly been jamming to various flavors of punk, lately, but I still keep in touch with other genres.

The Wytches - Annabel Dream Reader

This is a pretty great album. It mixes a lot of cool ideas like psych and surf rock w/ a super dark tone.
The slower moments are pretty good, but where this album really shines are the visceral, aggressive bits. It's probably the punkiest album I've posted in this thread, but takes enough influences from everywhere else to be worthwhile for here.

I've not heard either Pig Mountain or Dopethrone. Might have to check that out.

I think there are a lot of parallels between folk and punk. Certainly, both tend to be very political.

I also enjoy good rap :). Sometimes it's even better than these punk and hardcore bands.

There is good hip hop out there for sure. Most of it's underground or old school, though. Immortal Technique is fucking awesome, in my opinion. The Coup is a really good group, too. I also listen to some old shit like A Tribe Called Quest.
Hip hop was originally an artistic expression of the impoverished, struggling ghetto class. The energy and intent behind a lot of underground/old hip hop is not too many hairs removed from punk, it is just tinted by a different cultural style.
Its mainstream incarnation gagged on corporate dick so hard that it lost most of its brain cells due to lack of oxygen. But hey, that's what usually happens, right?
