I'm not Satanist, but it is just about looking at yourself as number one. The rules are very bendable and can mean whatever the hell you want.

A philosophical god is the same as a literal one. Seeing yourself as any sort of god or number one or all important entity is just the internal construction of a hierarchy, then placing yourself atop it.

Ok but even with that description, it still shouldn't be offensive to anyone sense it is an internal heirarchy and no one outside it is affected.

Basically it just a kind of uppity way to say "you are your own boss. Not any other God.

I think its less about seeing yourself as all important and more about seing yourself as the ultimate authority when it comes to deciding your own actions. Basically, Satanism is a "religion" based around the phrase "there is no authority but yourself." Rather than being a hedonistic viewpoint, its more of a self-appointed sense of responsibility for your own life. I am number one because I'm the only person I understand and I know for sure that I totally agree with. That doesn't mean that I'm selfish, it simply means I'm self-aware.

Exactly, everyone is their own point into the universe, thus being their own "god".

And I don't give a shit about a philosophical god, is it bad to accept teachings as your own? Isn't that more or less the "Anarchist Lifestyle"?

But why bother with the satanic bullshit, you are able to make those decisions on your own without following satanic philosophies...why attach a Judeo-Christian image to any of it? If you are your own god then you don't need satanism to define you.

    I agree. That's why I'm not a Satanist.

Agreed. From my limited understanding of it, Satanism appeared to be self-centred hedonism.

I don't know if I'd call myself a Satanist but I embrace the symbolism and the image of Satan and various demons as representations of knowledge, freedom, intuition, etc. Yeah, I guess some people may find it silly but I find the occult to be quite interesting and because it stands in direct opposition of Abrahamic faith... and also, I'm always sure to include a bit of self-ironic wit along with it. ;)

What's the saying about coins having two sides?
Satanism seems like picking sides between the sky wizard and a subterranean wizard.

OH! how ingenious, not to say rebellious... worshipping satan! (hu!)
but i think i stay worshipping my yoghourt-mug, it satisfies my needs if i'm hungry, smells nice and not a bit like sulphur, it never leaves me down - at least not as long as the lidl around the corner is open...
and since Neil Gaiman i know for sure, that ol'Lu abdicted and now works as a bar pianist somewhere in L.A.!

Ah, yes, true indeed. However, you're probably mistaking me for being religious when, in fact, I'm not. I just choose to accept the symbolism and imagery not only as a metaphor, but as a sort of satire; a play on Judeo-Christian fears, if you will. When the mood strikes me, I like to pose as exactly what some would like to think a Satanist is; that's what they expect and so I gives 'em what they want. After all, I am an entertainer at heart. ;)
Really, I just find it quite endearing and jovial. Its a brief moment which gives me some sense of personal satisfaction and amusement. I suppose you could say my sense of humor is somewhere else. :ecouteurs:

agreed, let's start some contemporary entertainment, public exorcism-/inquisition shows, lets forget about the people falling victim to professional "exorcists" off stage in real life, like this sect of this italian renegade parson peddling his petty insanity from door to door with pictures taken from live-roleplaying and black metal gigs - as a proof for "cults"... maybe we could scare some anarchists...

worshipping inanimate objects is a reactionary relapse into idolism and in case of THAT (cute frog-)mug almost an atrocity crime of bad taste too!
report instantly to the appropriate people's committee for an adequate re-education session!
(and now i think twice being friends with a person still mixing up her breakfast in reactionary passion in a tastless cute-frog mug, often in an almost pagan state of (un)dressing, uncombed and now unemployed too, worst of all:
reading Neil Gaiman graphic novels (sandman/hellraiser, i don't remember?)
girl, there's F'Murr too... completely adequate to the party line!
    repent!

A great anarchist band once said, " Si no crees en dios ¿porqué te cuelgas la cruz invertida? ¿porqué te cuelgas
    la cruz del terror?"

They couldn't have said it better! Weather you worship Satan or not, it all quite silly. So stop with the inverted cross shit because then your just acknowledging Christianity as well.

and here is this brilliant piece of entertainment for people who grew out of the brainwashing of their upbringing - and even the relation between swastika and upturned crosses has it's appeal - belsen was a gas for the commercial carneval, ey?!

(for that you are pardoned: to a life in dishes-slavery, especially caring for my cute-frog-mug...)
    ??? - swastikas aren't christian...
