    no need to apologise...

Although yr reference to NGNM85 maybe hints at what I mean about posturing and pissing contests... ;)

    Inre:
Yes and no; there are plenty of punks whose interest in 'Punk' amounts to wanted to drink beer and dance to some bands. That's fine. It's no better or worse than drinking beer and dancing to house music at a club.

The politics and rebellious attitudes are more a tendency within punk (claims that punk is inherently counter-cultural and anti-establishment are undermined by, say, the Sex Pistols whom were just a rather good rock band with an excellent sense of PR), a tendency that should be encouraged but.
The Profane Existence slogan 'Making Punk a Threat Again' is thus a good one (leaving aside whether they are, or are actually interested in, doing so). The political potential of punk should be fostered, this is were methinks this site is one expression of an attempt to do so.

Whoa when did I ignore you? I am a very, very busy individual....not that I think I'm so important or anything remotely similar, I just have a lot on my plate and am usually going in 5 directions at once. Just because you see my avatar and it says I'm on doesn't mean anything....relax already.

It's ok I know now, if you read the previous posts you'll see I realized I was asking something I shouldn't have asked anyone here in the first place... but since I'm kind of new here I didn't know that asking about what is punk could end up in fights all over the place. I just thought you were ignoring me since I sent you a couple pm's but hadn't heard from you yet. I apologize for my shitty behaviour towards you and promise it won't happen again.

@Butcher: So in your opinion the political (and perhaps counter-cultural?) potential of punk should be promoted but it's also ok for there being punks who just like the music and partying? Well I guess if there's people out there who like punk just as music and fashion and aren't a negative stereotype then there's no harm...
