Guy at a sandwich shop last night asked if I was Billy Idol.

Christmas and Easter are both reappropriated Norse holidays. Halloween comes mostly from the Celtic tradition of Samhain (a holiday, not a Danzig-fronted band).
I have no problems with Halloween because its religious excuse is so flimsy. All the really hardline Christians think its some kind of Satanic thing. Anything to piss off the evangelicals is cool with me. Besides, all I ever do on Halloween is go to parties. Seems alright by me.

I went to a halloween party on Friday, where the theme was "Capitalism is Scary", so I dressed up as a zombie in a business jacket and a blood-drenched t-shirt with "Eat The Rich" written on it. I ended up legitimately scaring a bunch of people when I passed out in the back yard, 'cause there's this guy, who's covered in blood, and he's not moving...

Yes, Halloween has it's basis in the Gaelic pagan festival of Samhain, which went from October 31 to November 1, and the Christian holiday of All Saints' Day, which occurred on November 1.
