Does the notion of a creator not assume the higher power to be a master?

Because a creator wouldn't be viewed as a equal. When people refer to a creator, they refer to someone who made you and has some kind authority over you, or some kind of power that you shouldn't challenge. I have yet to meet someone who views a creator/god/whatever as their equal.

The proof that they give you that "god" exists can be twisted into an atheist way of saying it. The proof that god DOES NOT exist is all around you, when you look around at people and animals you see evolution. Struggle has brought us this way, not god.

Depends which tale of Santa Claus we look at (actually sounding like god the more I talk about it bahaha), if we talk about the North Pole one, people have been there + aerial shots of where he is supposed to be, I would that would be enough. Fuck why am I arguing whether Santa exists or not bahaha

Anyways, I see what you are saying about how they must prove if they believe in it. I guess a lot of people need closure on how this place came to be so even if they know they can't prove it they begin believing in something. Knowing they can't personally prove it, they still start believing in some kinda creator just to get some kinda closure as that is what makes sense to them. Not sure if I am making sense right now but meh just my thoughts and my thoughts tend to be all over the place.

I don't mind the pagan types who keep to themselves and don't push their shit onto me.

I see no need for deity or religion so I keep clear of it, which makes me an atheist.

At the same time my only connection to anything that could be deemed odd is the fact that I recognise and - to a certain extent - respect natural forces and elements as being present because I can physically see/feel them. It is quite rational really, I can see and feel fire/heat/light, wind/cold, ground, plants, animals (includes humans), water...etc. All of these are real to me on this level. Some people call it spiritual, I call it sensory practicality.

Just for conversations sake, what is the typical anarchist stance on spirituality?

It's clear that the typical view of religion is that it's a coercive tool and places people (not to mention "god") in positions of power over other people simply based on some kind of divinity that is supposedly "bestowed" upon them. But what about philosophies that don't adhere to the idea that "god" isn't authoritarian, rather is indifferent to the human condition.

I personally reject religion completely, and don't buy the idea that "god" (or whatever name you want to give to a spiritual entity) is necessarily authoritarian in nature. My personal belief in the realm of intangible things runs along the lines of that I don't think there is any way to know for certain whether there is or isn't a "god" so how anyone can conclusively rule in (or out) the idea of the existence of a god is interesting to me. The argument that god exists makes as much sense to me as the argument that god doesn't exist, simply because how can anyone ever conclusively know about things (such as those within the realm of spirituality) that are beyond the perception of human existence.

I tend to be mostly skeptical when presented with notions concerning spirituality, but I find it difficult to see my views as conclusive because of the things I mentioned above. I'm curious as to how everyone else approaches ideas concerning spirituality within the anarchist community.

I was in prison and I had a cellmate that claimed to be a satanist but with one interesting twist...he did not belive god existed. This is kind of the same debate. One thing I will say is that I do not belive in a god as i dont belive in the big bang theory either, yet we are here. People adopt there own answers because its a good fuckin question, so it doesnt suprise me when two polar opposite beliefs are merged. One sounds cool and the other is comforting to him.

completely agree. everybody seems to be assuming that if you believe in a creator you then believe that that creator is superior to you or watevzzzzzz. I dont believe in a creator by the way, but it is annoying that people are making assumptions about the nature in which someone believes in summit. ask more questions first

    peace!

Its not that people can't see that he is a creator but not a master, it's the 'fact' that he demands tribute and worship and if you deny him that you'll spend eternity in Hell.

Seems kind of "master-y" to me, but what do I know, I'm an atheist...
