What kinda guitar gear do you use?

Figure some of you have have some sick guitars/amps.

Im running a Marshall JCM800 head from 1985(silver jubilee 100w)
a 1968 Fender Bandmaster reverb with the tremolo stage modded to a gain stage, with the matching 2x12 cab
dual ampeg SVT 350t 2x10 combos, and an ampeg SVT CL 4x10 HLF cab, with a Digitech DSP128 analog rack for reverb/delay.
pedal wise I have an original TS808 ibanez tube screamer, EH metal muff, EH big muff from the 70s, fender pedal tuner, OG crybaby wah, Digitech DF-7 distortion pedal, and a GNX3 pedal board.

Guitar wise I have a fender custom shop millenium P Bass, 3 tone sunburst with pickups and wiring from a 1962 P bass, non stripe maple neck.
2002 ESP Kirk Hammet signature model with a cracked neck I use for doom metal and whammy abuse solos.

and my most prized posession, that will burn with me when I die.

1978 alpine white Gibson SG custom, formerly owned and used by Zac Tew of World Burns to Death on every album except graveyard of Utopia and the new 7"s.
To say this guitar murders, is not even touching the surface of how insane this thing is.

Im waiting on a 76 gibson black beauty les paul custom too, but the dudes taking forever to get it to me.

Cheap-assed SG copy for me- along with some cheap/ second-hand pedals.
I have made some hardware improvements to the g-tar though- mainly because of uncontrollable, ear-splitting feedback from ridiculously OTT treble boosting. Now I have controllable, ear-splitting feedback.
    Have some tinnitus, yacunts!

I still have a shitty old plywood 'Kay' copy of a Les Paul slim neck B&W custom and my first was a Satellite copy of a Les Paul- these are both really terrible sounding pieces of shit which IIRC were originally for sale in supermarkets.

Re: What kinda guitar gear do you use?

!50 watt crate combo ( crybaby wah, death metal distortion)
guitar is a used fender mexican strat that plays like an american, and the guy who owned it put a seymor duncan telecaster in the first pick up slot.

For bass I have a olp five string its ok. but I'm planing on replacing as soon as I can.

Then I have a 500 watt ampeg head for that with a 300 watt fender cab

and my martin 12 string u.s.a. made it is my love.

Re: What kinda guitar gear do you use?

I play an Epiphone Les Paul 100 (pretty cheap but good) through a bitchin' Marshall combo amp (100 watts I think) with no effects outside the regular amp overdrive.

Bass-wise I have a spray painted Squier P Bass (white w/ black pickguard) and a Fender Rumble 100 amp

My main bass is a late 70's, early 80's Japanese BC Rich Mockingbird. I bought it used in 1983. As a back-up I have a 2000 Korean BC Warlock.

My amp is a Yamaha B100 with matching cabinet with 2 15's in it.

The only pedal I use is a Rat distortion pedal.

you sure your wattage on your head and cab is right?

    a 500w head would blow a 300w cab....

I got an ibanez guitar ax model, and one of those little marshal starter amps. Speaker is blown but eh... it does all I need it to sitting around playing in my apt.

simple question :p. im wondering what everyone uses for their equipment, guitars, basses, microphones, amps, pa's, recording, ect. and what your background is for music, like had any lessons/self taught recorded anything, did any good gigs/shows ect.
ps. dont be all bashing on people/equipment based on brands or w.e. thats totally lame.

    for me,
    guitars:
my favorite is my custom dean ml79(the model not a vintage its like 2004-6) w floyd rose, dean zebra in the neck, a dimbucker in the bridge, actual chrome pickup mounts/hardware. black with white edging.. korean multi laminate set neck, extra wide jumbo frets, the massive headstock :p

dean vendetta that im thinking of converting to a 6string 3/4 scale bass with double humbuckers just have to get a piece of brass to make a new nut.. already had the string on but the nut doesnt work good/is too lowe so alot of fret buzz on open/first 3 frets.. just black

some vintage lespaul no idea of brand or anything no serials, but its pretty sweet, has good mahogany wood random flamed maple neck, with dual humbuckers in a sunburst color (50-60z had an original 1952 gibson abr1 on it and my dad got it in the 80z when he bough some random speakers from a guy he gave it too him to and all he knew was that it was old)

a stratocaster thats all black but dont really ever use it :p doesnt suit my style of playing/sound..

    bass:
have an old kmart bass (80z) in a fender strat pj style all black with a 3in thick body so actually sounds good, has a ghetto first act neck on it cus the old one the fret board peeled of

then i have a oldish (70z-80z) aluminum neck bass, kind of like what geddy lee used to play, no serials or anything, cool dual jazz pickup/humbucker with a phase switch sounds pretty good, not alot of bass though..

    pedalz:
metal muff, "the mole"(bass booster/dist), digitech grunge + deathmetal + a lame digital one that has foot pedal on it.

ampz: i just use a ghetto first act bass amp because the speaker in any low power like 15watt guitar amp distorts when i play :p.

+ i have a backpack amp (still have to attach the straps thoe) made from an old radioshack power amplifier chip, its like .5w at 9 volts, but need to reconfigure the batteryz so i can have 2x9 volts for 18volts to get some more headroom at like 1w, the sealed mdf cabinet attached to the head is 2 6x9's it gets about 1/2 as loud as a stock car system i mean you can hear it from half a block away if you use a pedal before it, its kinda retardedly responsive.. because it has no preamp so if you pick really softly it can be nice and clean, but if you pick hard when the gain pot is all the way up it gets saturated like a raging marshall at like 9volts at 12volts it sounds really good.. but the heatsync is too small so i need to put in a fan or something so idk.. the only pot it has is gain which does nothing for the volume lol, takes dual inputs, can power dual headpphones, and any speaker 8/16ohms

pa stuff: i have a nady 8 channel powered mixer at 175watts rms at 4ohmz, 2 gemini 15" woofer + horn cabs, 2 angled 12in monitor cabs, then i have a stack which is 2 2x12" sub cabs. and 2 1x12" and a 15" jbl horn form the 70-80z.

recording stuff: just have a old fostex 4track recorder with the speed knob maxxed out so its basically cd quality, then i record that onto my computer at 96khz 1440kbps wav then convert to mp3z. have a couple cheap condenser mic's

never had any lessons or anything ive just recorded a few short songs here and there but never really got anything going, people kept flaking out so i pretty much gave up on doing anything but have started seriously playing again like the last 2 weeks.. pretty much gonna just fit and do it all myself..

For bass i have a Budget Squier P Bass that runs through some crappy fender rumble practice amp. For pedals i have an Electroharmonix Bass Muff that i got for cheap (i wanted a Russian Muff but they were recently discontinued) and a cheap BOSS bass multi efects pedal, with an inbuilt Wah pedal.

Unfortunately i though it would be totally awesome and metal to put Heavy Guage strings on the bass, however the extra tension bent the neck horribly out of shape and its now only barely playable. I even went so far as to pay for the truss to be professionally tweaked, however it just warped back to being just as bent as before.

I desperately need a new bass, and a more powerfull amplifier. But im having to save almost all my money in order to buy a car at the moment, witch is totally lame.

8 Watt Amp, cheap ass Ibanez guitar (which is more of a metal guitar than a punk guitar), cheap riot pedals, one delay and one chorus, and a rat distortion pedal.

Damn, reading all of this i feel so poor! It took me years to get my guitar, which is only 400 pounds, which is very cheap in my country :lmao:

I am trying to get the money for a Jaguar or a Jazzmaster, as i love the tailed bridge sound

The new bass i want is going to cost me around $400 AU, im tossing up between an Ibanez or a Thunderbird copy. Ill probably get the Ibanez since its cheaper and i tend to prefer the tone.

if you play bass i recommend the eh "the mole" its kind of like a eh lbp1 power booster and the original 1969 muff(which only had a gain pot) put together accept it only affects low freq, basically it makes every bass more bassy and gives some more sustain :p, accept its too powerfull to turn the boost up past like 25% or it starts wrecking speakers inless you have like really nice 15-18" woofers. but its a cheapish pedal like $40 usd but it makes like $120usd bass sound like a $300 bass. of course thats if you like the low pitched bass :p i.e. like a b.c. rich mocking bird neck thru bass with the classic monster headstock which the a string sounds like low e on the regular fender/ibanez :p

    Persona-non-grata:
Not to decide anything for you - but i've heard only bad stuff about marshall, and also it should be very expensive :) Line-6 should be pretty good though

hmm idk depends on the music style :p. im thinking of blowing a pot, on a krank krankenstien jr 20watt..
i mean for marshall the eq isnt too powerfull in my opinion, but if you want like a classic rock-ozzy-slayer depending on the head mostly good for mids/trebel/ a overdrive, not used much for a big beefy crunch, the randall heads are supposed to be pretty good (the cheapo solidstate onez) they also have some new tech with some modular amps, that you can switch out a real tube preamp, for like a metal one, or classic rock or w.e. thats kinda expensive thoe. i hear the crate 120w head is alright. could go on but w.e. do some researches on teh interwebz

    Dinscurge:
It's not to be an expert, i've just heard. But you're right, maybe it's good for that.
Personally, i use flanger, chorus, reverb and all of those effects quite a lot, and my guitar sound is generally closer to sonic youth than slayer, so maybe that's why :p

What I use most is an Epiphone SG plugged into a Vox AC-30 with the 6th setting on the DIgitech "Distortion Factory" (I can't remember the settings name but it's some kinda metal distortion)...I also have a number of other effects pedals and this $80 First Act guitar with a single humbucker (I don't use it as much as the SG cause it's easier to play hyperspeed thrashy punk on the SG's neck haha)
