another reason why sometimes it is a "gateway" drug is because kids see ads on TV about marijuana, they don't believe it because they have smoked it before, so then they think all of the other shit is a lie and become tweakers

    First:
Legalise all of it. We should be able to choose.

    Second:
I'm sXe and totally, 100%, against drugs, all of them, counting in alcohol and tobacco. I also avoid caffeine. I fight the use of this shit every where I go and often have long discussion with people on why they should drink and so on. For me this is part of my political acitivity, because drugs ruin mainy lives, every day, why should I spare them in my quest for the "correct life"?
And yes I also oppose marijuana, though more people die through alcohol and almost none through joints. Yeah, allright. But I know people who do marijuana and I've got my reason to oppose it. Anyway... this would be a way longer discussion, belive me I had it for hours, so if you want to talk to me about it contact me directly.

I also oppose marijuana use... except for medicicinal pruproses, though many people make false claims to get it or justify using it. I think getting stoned or drunk is just pathetic and stupid.

The key word here is "excessive", and to me, excessive use of any drug is never a good thing.

It has been proven my scientific research from the government of canada that marijuana is less harmful than cigarettes or alcohol. no dependance, only psychologic dependance, even if you smoke 10grams per day during 10 years if you stop then 2 months after there is no traces of marijuana in your body anymore, etc...

it proved that all the us propaganda & disinformation against marijuana since 100 years (reefer madness and co) is FALSE

What about people who drive after getting ripped? I think that its just as dangerous or maybe a little less dangerous as drinking and driving...other than excessive or irresponsible use I say legalize it, or better yet abolish the state!

I dont question this. And therefore I'm fighting at alcohol with greater power than against marijuana. BUT I fight it as well.
Marijuana is changing ones personality while one is using it, it makes people indifferent and while it doesn't work as other drugs and destroys your capacity to feel directly, it overlays your feelings. You are less concious and while it is your decision to be aware of the things around you or not (who am I to tell you?) it affects other people as well. If you do marijuana other people will take up your example, as it always is, and some of them will take it to overlay and forget their problems, which will most of the time lead to their problems worsening as well as other problems arising.

And after all it leaves a bad taste if we can't be concious of our surroundings. We should change our world and doing drugs wont make it any better. (Yeah I know that sound like the old "drugs are no solution" slogan)

I still say that anarchists should not be under the influence of anything except the fucked up system which they are fighting against.

Hasn't it been proven that while there is no trace of the drug in your system that over a period of time there is an increase in probability that you are prone to psychological disorders such as schitzophrenia, paranoia, drepression, paranoid schitzophrenia etc?

I'm not arguing a case, just asking a question after I read or heard the above somewhere. Can't for the life of me remember where I heard or read it though.

Make it legal, people have the right to choose what they put or do not put into their bodies.
I am straight-edge, it's a lifestyle i chose; however it's not a lifestyle for everyone. Just because I see no need for it for myself, I don't want to infringe on other's choices on whether to use it or not.

It's tenuously linked. The problem with marijuana research, is that long term studies aren't very effective, because of it's illegality.

I remember reading not to long ago that a study showed marijuana users were more susceptible to lung problems because their lungs are exposed to the smoke longer (like holding in your hoot or hotbox). I'll try to re-find that link.
I'm not saying cigarettes or weed is better than the other, but that logically makes sense.

Also, it's been proven that long term and/or excessive use of marijuana depletes serotonin levels in the brain.
I say excessive use of anything isn't good (except maybe masterbation  ).

How far is excessive? Couldn't that come down to personal opinion? If we are going to argue the topic title, I guess we need to decide where is the line.

    ex·ces·sive (k-ssv)
    adj.
Exceeding a normal, usual, reasonable, or proper limit.

What is the 'proper' limit? A militant straight-edged person could think one joint is excessive while a heavy user could think there is no limit. Sorry for all going douchebaggy on this topic but I am kinda interested in what you guys think. Personally I think it should be legalized, people are going to use it and with legalization, it will take out the bad side of getting weed. It would free up prisons and could be taxed etc. On the topic title, in my mind excessive use can be bad, much like excessive use with alcohol and cigarettes. Sure you can use how ever much you want, I am not here to stop you at all but I personally see it as a bad habit. I smoke weed occasionally but I don't think I would ever start uses it daily just because of the consequences using it. Maybe that is not what you meant by 'wrong', did you mean weed doesn't do any harm to your body or did you mean as a belief on excessive use? I don't think I am making much sense at the moment, I just woke up.

Supposedly marihuana affects your reaction time the same as 6 beers would, to give you an idea. Driving under the influence (of which I have been guilty on multiple occasions) is probably the stupidest thing you could ever do >.<

    Legalize it all the way!

Smoking pot never stopped me from being an activist, on the contrary, by dealing with cops almost on a daily basis and going to all those marchs in favour of the legalization of cannabis, it just made me realize what a fucked up system we're living in.

Also, if I didn't smoke pot I wouldn't probably be familiar with most of the punk counter-culture, including squats and such...Weed changed my life and not for the bad and I've been smoking it since I was 14.

I'm currently on a "break" from smoking it because of some family issues, haven't smoked a spliff for a month and I don't feel hung at all...Though I was used to smoke one before I went to bed and I'd instantly crash the second I'd touch the bed, I always had trouble sleeping and it kinda helped me, that's what I miss the most.
But I'll probably start smoking again once the summer vacations begin :D

For me it's simple, I am used to alcohol for many years now, and I know how to deal with it,
but I won't try any other drug, I won't let any drug fuck up my mind,
so for me all other drugs are a no, Marijuana as well.
I do think everyone must be able to choose, I'm completely for legalising drugs.
