So, I was thinking whats wrong with companies like coca-cola or pepsi or something like these ones. I mean I personally have something against mcdonalds becouse its making a big profit out of killing animals and giving shits to eat. but I cant see whys everyone here hating big companies? i mean for example i will take coca-cola. Coca-cola, for me, is a tasty drink, and its cheep here in croatia ( cheep i mean 1 euro, and juice is about 1.2 euro ). So they have made an excellent drink and they are making money becouse its better then rest of the drinks.they are making too much money and controling too much people by selling them their products. but isnt life a fight? whos better he earns better ( in todays system) and gets paid better. Just want to know whats wrong with having a company witch is very good and makes a good profit out of its products. I understand anarhist opinions about capitalism, no boss, radical change, no money, but still cant understand whys everyone against this. if someone could explain that to me I would be greatful. Dont want to argue..im currently downloading this viewtopic.php?f=99&t=4190&p=24243&hilit=Coca+Cola#p24243, in hope to find something useful, as I get it anarchists are against big companies becouse of capitalist system, bosses are using poor people ( in coca cola case, columbians if im right) to work for them while they are resting. ok, I am extreamly against that kind of work, if that can be called work. But in other hand, IF they werent so stupid and if they paid those people more ( and they deserve more) would they still be stupid, selfish, bastards? i think this topic will piss off someone but I had a feeling I should ask this.

Basically you already answered your own question by saying:
because its making a big profit out (...) and giving shits (to drink) - that's the first point.
A little colored water with lots of sugar in it, bad for your teeth, bad for your body shape (toomuch calories just for a drink) - and just like the tobacco industry - they don't care about the consequences to your health, others may pay for your dentist/cardiologe/whatever.
A next thing is the question "why produce sweets for the minority of world population that is able to afford it, while the majority still lacks enough food to eat". Sugarproduction somewhere in the 2. or 3. world may be cheaper, so big companies always tend to exploit the need of "poor" countries to export raw materials. Just google for good examples like the us "united fruit company" in the sixties.
The worst thing about big business: The political influence they use to keep their profits/power - supporting repression and injustice, slowing down the economical development of "poor" countries - google for "lobbyism/colonism/neocolonism" ect. AND MAKE UP YOUR MIND about the stuff - keep asking questions, as far as I'm concerned it's no reason to be pissed off - I'm sure you will stop pissing the brown sugarwater if you know enough to decide yourself against it - Živjeli!

Not sure were to start, first do you mean all big companies or just food related ones?
I'm going to just go with food , using coke as a case study, since I'm not sure.
Right, coke is cheap, they can use cheap labor and cheap ingredients. They can then sell it cheaply and like you said, its more appealing because its sweet and inexpensive. I'm sure I don't need to tell you how terrible coke is for you, and thats true of most all food from large companies. They make a product that has poor ingredients, that contains the salt and sugar that humans crave and that is unhealthy. A this is part of why obesity is becoming more prominent, unhealthy food is cheap. That juice maybe better for you (or loaded with sugar, but lets say for argument's sake it isn't) but it cost more. A family of 4 with a tight budget could buy 7 dollars worth of apples or for that same price, a hamburger for each of them at McDonalds. Even if these companies did start to pay people fair wages the food and drinks make would still be unhealthy.
Yes but there are small soda and tea companies that make drinks as natural and ethical (some are vegan, others use fair trade teas) While they are still companies, its better to have people buy those then coke. Coke is more well know and thats partly why they make more money. I'm more likely to walk into a place that serves coke then idk, steaz for example. And again, coke cheaper too.
Also, the us government subsidizes things like the corn industry for the high fructose corn syrup, instead of stead of more organic small farms.
Big companies end up using slave labor and harming animals, humans and the environment because they don't give a shit about ethics or what is right, its just about profit and getting it by any means necessary. There are a lot of other reasons that big companies suck but I'm running late for something, someone should be able fill you in on everything else.

Coca Cola kills union leaders with paramilitary groups. They maximize profits with keeping their workers poor and in terrible conditions. Apart from that they've used many unhealthy and addictive ingredients in their products through the years.

And nope, it's not life, it's capitalism. Those who can be monopoly and buy the best machines, put their farmers in dept, cheat on taxation etc. can get wealthiest.

And yes, they would still be some stupid fucks. Coca Cola is big leaders of lobbyism, forcing laws through parliament in the most undemocratic way, and apart from that, they support big companies such as McDonalds, who exploit nature in the most terrible way.

And, Coca Cola isn't the only one, there's MANY of these companies - basically every big multinational corporation, since those who don't exploit people and nature can't compete on prices, and people want cheap shit because they are poor, because they are being exploited.

And that's how humanity doomed itself, the end

One huge reason that nobody else touched on Bakica is the appropriation of natural resources away from the hands of native peoples ie: WATER. It is becoming more and more precious as humanity destroys and pollutes the planet. Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola have horrible track records of depleting water sources and leaving native people without clean drinking water. As time goes on this will become less and less acceptable.

coca-cola pay paramilitaries to kill syndicalists in colombia, they collaborated with nazi germany during the second world war, they support israel since decades, they often helped presidents to fund their campaign. they drain the water in africa to make coca-cola, they dont respect workers right, etc....

pepsi supports the irak war and gave money to bush, they dont respect workers right, they privatise water in third world countries to make their products, etc...

and both compagnies make shitty products full of asparthame because they only care about making money. I suggest you review your definition of "excellent product", it is full of shit.

Also, even if they acted correctly, its still a big rich capitalist multinational and in an anarchist point of view they are the enemy.

There are 3-4 documentaries about coca-cola in the documentaries section, get them

funny it was today I read about a coca-cola-unionst being killed.

anyway anarchists have been opposed to companies (at least to big ones) because they are based on class war (read: exploit people), because they fight for the status quo, are only about profite (not about people, animals, life, the planet...), are internally full of hierarchies (as well as on the outside), have always been in the hands of males (read are patriarchal) and I think i could go on much longer..

ok, you gave me enough arguments.
excellent product it is indeed. I mean look how much it is sold, and how much it is earned on coca cola. I know it bad for our health but you cant say it isnt tasty. your right, they are our enemies but I dont want someone to be my enemy if I dont know the reason why, or I know only few reasons like they are capitalist, I mean it IS enough but now I understand why are they capitalist.
    anyway, thanks
I understand know, no need to go further in explanations

    Bakica:
I know you said no more explainations - but saying that coke is tasty makes it good is an exaggeration. Many people like coke because they grew up drinking it, thereby making them consider it tasty, as we like thinks that are fat and full of sugar (because these things are hard to find in nature, therefore the body finds them delicious).
They made people addicted to Coca Cola by putting Cocaine in it, and has since, even after, kept people addicted through sugar, and advertising to children.

It's easy to make something taste good (or at least be addictive) the body craves sugar, fat and salt.

I said no more explanations because I didnt want you to be pissed off because I ask so much :p

well yeah I know I am kinda addicted to it, like I am addicted to the sentence "for jesus sakes" and I dont bealive in jesus. its similar.

ungovrnable : as Shuei said, probably most people, including me, became addicted to Coca Cola, so we find it tasty, like I hate mcdonalds but I dont hate Coca Cola that much, because my mum buys it every day and I drink it, or otherwords I am destroying myself as you would say :p but I dont think your wrong, Im just saying..its tasty.

That's exactly the power of habit and sugar - many can't hate it, because they want it.

There are dozens of alternative brands to coca cola. Same sugar, same taste, just not Coca-Cola brand. Buy alternative brands. Because you love the taste or are supposedly addicted to coca cola isn't an excuse.

Coca-cola is as worse as McDonalds. It is a symbol of imperialism and USA domination all around the world, just like McDonalds. Their products are as bad as mcdonald's for the health, and they are as bad capitalist as them.

come on man, you CAN'T ask too much - there is always someone giving you an answer, and because you're already on this website, most of them have a high chance to be true - just consider each point of view and think for your self about it...
Maybe you'll do the next step and talk to your mother about the stuff?

I'm heavily addicted to swearing too, but with the addictions like coke it's a completely different thing
Just think about the consequences: They allow you to destroy yourself - and make you pay for it and with your money/their profit they destroy the likes of you elsewhere in the world - make up your mind... Would you support a drug dealer?

coca cola treats their workers horrible, and profits from every war the US has been in more recently Iraq War and Afhanistan War and Civil War. Most people who drink Coca Cola know about these things but can not stop because they are addicted to the soft drink and sugar and caffeine.
Here is a campaign against coca colas treatment of coca cola bottling plant union workers in Columbia

DId you guys ever wonder that maybe Coca Cola is possibly collaborating with McDonalds, or maybe even sharing profits?

I wouldn't trust them, I mean, don't they sell coke at McDonalds?
So maybe even buying coke can contribute to McDonalds.

    Just a bullshit guess.
