Actually, I didn't. I should have, but I think this is all pretty tedious and trivial. I already conceded that my original statement was incorrect, and it really makes little difference to the points I was trying to make.

.....In this particular case. Not as a rule.

    That isn't the reason.

    My favorites at the moment:

    Paragraf 119
    Misfits
    Assassinators
    Sods
    Crass
    Poison Girls
    Ads
    Dead Kennedys
    Iggy Pop and The Stooges
Witch Hunt (been listening to them a lot these days)

It's hard to choose 10 - most of the bands i listen to are more Post-Punk than punk though.

I thought the :p :p at the bottom (and the fact that my avatar is the cover of an album by Nomeansno, and the quote by Micheal Gira of Swans in my signature) would show that I was being sarcastic.

okay not to beat a dead horse and all, but....
The Offspring, I will not deny, that I enjoy some of their music, however Anxiety is right on some of his points. He said that their label Nitro rips off its bands. That I can say from statements from a band on the label is true. I was talking to the Damned back in 2002, and they told me how they had regretted signing to Nitro, because Nitro is nothing more than a tax write off for Dexter Holland, he doesn't promote the bands on the label, and thus resulting in the bands not getting their share of sales, and having smaller turnouts at shows. But, in the defense of The Offspring, they have given back a lot to their fans, which is good... but for the most part they have turned away from their punk roots and have become mainstream rockstars... and they are what they are like it or leave it, they never were a serious punk band anyway (meaning not a political punk band). I guess I don't see them as sellouts because they didn't change their style because of being signed to a major, they have always done the same thing, just for different amounts of cash, and to different audiences, and since their goals (as far as I know) were never to be an "underground" punk band, who cares if they signed to a major and make loads of cash. (Dexter is a dick for how he treats the bands on Nitro, which has nothing to do with The Offspring's music). Oh and another reason to hate how Dexter treats and rips off the bands, do some research on why The Vandals pulled out of Nitro.

Oh and another thing who fuckin cares that Bad Religion had 4 major label releases, I love them even their majors. They have been around forever I see no problem with them getting a little reward for their hard work, it never changed who they were as a band, or what they stood for, no more than when Chumbawamba signed to a major. Look at all of the great punk bands that were on majors... I actually see no problem with a band making some money as long as it doesn't change who they are, and what they are doing it for... why should someone in a band need to have some crap job to live off and play music on the side, why not make a living off of playing music? We unfortunately live in a world where we need money in order to have a place to live, food to eat, and other necessities for life... when money becomes no longer necessary, then I believe that bands will still make music... I lost my train of thought hopefully this made some sense.
