Toyotathon will no longer be an event for cars it will be a massive festival like coachella or some wack shit like that hahaha. And i'm EXTREMELY suprised The Casualties, or The Adicts aren't sponsored or whatever by any of these, but seems like they like harder sounding shit.. Preatty soon the people in the bands wont' wear jackets with studs and patches or painted band logos it will be jackets like Nascar racers ahahaha.......fucking lame shit!! I got the Magrudergrind EP in the mail from ordering a shirt from a distro and when i saw it that came for free from scion i threw it away.....

if you bought a "toyota" brand car because your favorite grind band is sponsored by them there was no hope for you to begin with
yeah it sucks that your favorite band is on a corp sponsorship show/record but it's not like they're tryin to move units sayin "hey grind band you gotta make your sound more top 40" if someone offered my band to record and release for free I wouldn't hesitate
it still sucks on principle though

Seriously, no matter what the fuck you do besides living in the woods or mountains your constantly spammed with commercials...
Why not just use the system?
As some other person in this thread wrote, if a person listening to grind buy a toyota because of the magrudergrind ep, then they are a lost cause anyway in my eyes...
I would love to get the ep by magrudergrind for free, to be honest I do not care how it got funded if it's not paid for anyway?

Here is my two cents, from knowing Chris and Avi (I went to school with that kid) for a long ass time and talking with them about it and talking with others knowledgeable about the whole Scion bullshit: I think what they did is great, free fucking album entirely paid for by Scion, including all the other travel expenses and printing and all that shit. Those who get it, won't ever buy a Scion or at least buy one new or from a Scion dealer, they won't support them in any way but they get a free album out of the deal.
Yes Toyota sucks as do all corporations, I cannot and will not under any circumstances argue with you there. However doing a good quality recording is an expensive process and would be hard for just about any non-corporate band to undertake too often. So when the chance comes along for a free one with no real strings other than some branding on the sleeve...I cannot really complain. I saw MG recently and they didn't go on stage and have to give a speech about the new Scion Coolwagon or whatever they just went up and thrashed as usual.
They haven't changed at all and I know Chris is still fucking true and still vegan and Avi is Avi. The band hasn't really changed except for some new guitarists. They aren't selling out too the man.
Plus Scion is probably not going to get extra sales by helping grindcore artists out. If they were trying to get extra sales they would probably go with Lady Blah Blah or Black Eyed Peas or something like that. Most Grind lovers aren't going to buy shit because of a logo on a record sleeve. I don't think Scion or Toyota has the intention of getting more sales, it just seems either to be a really bad decision if that is the case or just simply someone in Scion loves more "extreme" music and has some extra cash.

This just shows how fake for example Magrudergrind is and any other band that would be willing to play at any scion shows or put out music through them. Toyota represents everything that punk and anarchism is supposed to object and fight against, it's sad to see bands that seem to support the D.I.Y. punk culture and then do business with scion. I read the interview were Magrudergrind explains why did they choose to let toyota support them in producing an ep and it was such a load of shit, i mean come on, you don't have to be very smart to see what toyota is trying to accomplish here, influencing the younger punks that go to scion shitfest, or people that really like magrudergrind or any other band thats been assraped by scion to think that "toyota isn't that bad, look at what have they done to our community blaa blaa".
