    Hi.
Do you know some movies with anti-authoritarian/anarchist themes. I found a very good indie movie recently, but it's fairly old(from the 90's).

    La Haine:
It's about three freinds, Vinz, Hubert and Said. They are living in the suburbs of Paris and it's showing a day from their life.

seriously, it s a fucking great movie! but unfortunately if you don t speak French you cannot understand this movie...
I was in England and I saw it with English subtitles and it s nothing to do with what they are talking about because in all the movie they are talking in total slang with a lot of "play words" im possible to translate in English
there is a good movie like LA HAINE too called MA 6T VA CRAQUER (6T means "cite" like "suburbs")

PS: sorry for my English but I speak French....

I agree, It's one of the best movies I've ever seen, and the ending is phenomenal. I had luck because I found a transtated version in an other laguage I speak online on youtube.

    Will do, they seem interresting.

This is an old thread, but I thought I'd contribute

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest
    If...
    A Clockwork Orange
12 Angry Men (Only because it's fairly critical of the american justice system)
    Network
    Fight Club
American Psycho (Extremely critical of yuppie culture)
    Thank You For Smoking

I might be able to think of more, but there's a list to get you started.

The movie was a mangling of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest. Read the book, it's wonderful. It's not racist, though, dammit

God Bless America is a good one if you're into dark, gruesome humor. SLC Punk, American History X, there's also an indie documentary about the very beginnings of hardcore punk called American Hardcore.

To clarify, did you not like the movie, or did you think it wasn't enough like the book?

It's an amazing movie. If you haven't read the book. Otherwise, you'd be cringing.

A lot of directors strip the story down to the bare bones before they make it. Every Kubrick film is pretty far from the book.
Cinema isn't a medium who's only good objective is to parrot other mediums. A film stands alone, based on a book or not.
That being said, I should really read the book.

Your local high school might have it on the curriculum, if so, you could get a copy from any delinquent for a cigarette or less.
