Anyone know where I can get some studs/spikes around Melbourne, Aus, where I can go and pick them up rather than buy some in from overseas?

    Re: studs for "charged" jackets

Thanx for the answers. I think I'll go for the ones I've posted, since they seems to be the best and cheepest. It really sux, that here in Denmark you can only get overpriced studs in crappy "punk" fashing-shops (simular to Hot toppic), and like I said before, since we´re ordering a huge load, it would really be crappy to get the "wrong" ones. Cause even thou our distro is non-profit, we dont wanna distribute things we don't like ourself (the same goes for records, books, T-shirts etc.). :guitar:

    As for "Nodz" question
Anyone know where I can get some studs/spikes around Melbourne, Aus,
where I can go and pick them up rather than buy some in from overseas?

Go to -Smoke Dreams @ 292 Flinders Street
    Melbourne VIC 3000
There studs are not as cheap as online but they have a good enough range.

I've been trying to put studs into my jacket. Im coming into 2 problems

    1. Making a hole in the leather- I've just been using a knife but it make a
hole too big and ruins my jacket. But I can't find anything sharp enough

    2. Once I have the cone stud through the jacket I can't seperate the teeth
at the back of the stud without using a hammer and then they bend to one side.

I gave up after 3 studs. How do I do this properly?

Use a metal dart for the holes if you have one. Bend the teeth inward, not out, you can easily bend them with your fingers. Or you can quit punk rock and trade in you studs for angry young and poor points.

I believe they make stud tools, though I've never used one.

Go to studs and spikes on the net and get a tool.
Do what I did, buy a denim jacket from the Salvos, mine cost me $5 bucks. Take the sleeves off. Put it over the leather jacket. Decorate the denim jacket. Easy to get the studs through. If it gets wrecked buy another denim jacket.

My dad has one, but I don't think it's ment to be stud tool, but anyway it helps ( I'm not using it, I just recommand you to go to some shops, and search for it, it shouldn't be expensive)

nail scissors make the perfect holes, they're tougher than the studding tool and don't break as easily. also make sure your not studding into the lining as it will screw up the jacket

no, smoke dreams is a separate shop all together.
Also Jesuscrust the studs you have circled are the ones from the second picture. they are the best and are the same studs that bones from discharge used on his jacket. the studs on the first picture are the next size up.

    Re: studs for "charged" jackets

I got the English 77 studs x 1000 to give the jacket that 'charged' look. Got mine from Studs and Spikes. Half way through studding the jacket. Still doing some stencilling.

There's a tool called a tailors awl which punches perfectly sized holes, usually goes for about $3-5.00. For bending the prongs inward, push them inward with your fingers as much as you can then bend them completely inside the walls of the stud with any kind of plier.

What's worked for me in the past was using those really small flat-headed screwdriver (like these http://www.eclipsetools.com/ProductPics ... 00-075.JPG), the kind used for electronics, just about any hardware store will have them. Put a block of wood under where you want the hole, and with a hammer, lightly hammer the screwdriver into whatever you're working on.

Though, if you're working on a leather jacket/something that has a lining, either go for the nail-scissors method, or if you have super-awesome punk sewing skills, cut open a bit of the lining, put the piece of wood in through there, do your thing, and sew it up when you're done.
