    Re: stencil sites?!?!?!?!??!

Go to the "link" page on stencilpunks. They have one other site on there that has a good amount. It's their "sister" site as they call it.

    stencil help

hey. i was wondering if some one can give me some advise. i have been wanting to make a shirt for the past year or so but have never been good with doing stencils. pretty much i havent really done much stenciling. the shirt i want is basic enough i guess. white shirt with black lettering. it is going to say "RIOT" but i dont want it as normal stenciling ussuly is. where u cut the letters out and paint in the space the letters used to be. i want the oposite. the letters stay white and around them its painted kind of thing. understand?

i was wondering if any one had some advise for a guy starting stencil painting. pretty much cardboard and fabric paint and make sure to have carboard under the front of the shirt or it will soak through is pretty much all i got goin right now...

    Re: stencil help

You could try cutting out the shapes of the letters in tape, sticking those on the shirt, and painting over them.

Or, this probably won't take as much skill with an exacto knife, you could cut out your letters in cardboard, put a piece of corrugated cardboard inside the shirt, pin the letters in place and paint over them. Both of these have worked out in the past, the first one works better when you want more standard letter-shapes, but is a lot trickier with stencil lettering.

    Re: stencil help

you should use thin bits of plastic its easier for cutting and its more durable,
i find the best thing to use is sheets of acetate (the see through plastic stuff you print on) but you can improvise.

also if you have money to invest you might want to consider getting a tool called a 'stencil-burner', i bought one fairly cheap and it makes it a lot easier for most stencils.

    Re: stencil help

ya at the moment it is paper and pencil then i cut it out. its ok though because its not a big detail paint job and the shitty overspray look goes with the stencil..im ready to go just havent gotten around to it. work n what not
