CAUTION: not suitable for straight edgers ;-)

So basically this is an easy, rough recipe for making a basic sugar wine called "kilju". Its a Finnish traditional drink (in certain circles) but it IS actually illegal there now (so i'm not responsible for anything blah blah etc).

    WHAT YOU NEED:
1kg plain sugar without dodgy additives
    2x empty 3l bottle
1 pack of yeast (wine/turbo yeast is ideal but baker's yeast will do)
1 balloon, or a smallish section of garden hose
    Large-ish saucepan

    METHOD:

    1) Sterilize everything, especially the bottle you're gonna use for the actual fermentation process.
    2) Mix almost all of the sugar with approx 2l of water (tap will do but bottled is better) in the saucepan and allow to boil for a while.
    3) Let it cool down to about 40 degrees (celcius).
    4) Put a couple of spoonfulls of yeast in a cup of sugar and water which is around 40 degrees also, let the cup sit till a frothy head appears.
    5) Put your warm sugar solution into your bottle, leaving a few inches of air in the top, then add the cup of yeast.
    6) Put a couple of holes in your balloon and stretch it over the top of the bottle, or alternatively insert your hose into the bottle and put the other end in a glass of water. (this stops oxygen getting in and creating ethanoic acid).
    7) Leave it to sit at about 20-25 degrees for a few days (if using turbo yeast) but otherwise for at least 2 weeks or until it stops bubbling.
    8) When its ready, pour it into your other bottle to drink, making sure you leave a little bit of the sediment behind, that stuff will give you the major shits!
    9) Enjoy! Hopefully, it'll be around 15% alcohol so you can drink it straight or mix it with OJ or something like that!

Bear in mind, this is a cheap, rudimentary source of booze, and it doesnt taste great, but you can experiment with lots of different mixers and add actual fruit to make this stuff taste decent!

Have fun guys, try not to die!
