I don't work in the traditional sense, I work as a roadie for a couple of local bands. I don't pay taxes and I don't support capitalism this way.

But...what if it is? Some people are comfortable with it and some people aren't. And who considers men's (or women's) sexuality dirty? I guess I don't understand what you mean by this.

There's a difference between "doing" porn and working at Mcdonalds. Working at McDonalds is wage slavery, plain and simple, nothing good about it. Working in porn can also be wage slavery. Doing porn isn't though. What about all those who do porn for the enjoyment/liberation of it? And then there's those who do it for enjoyment/liberation who also get the bonus of getting paid for it. Some people love making it, it's art to them. Why is it so bad if they can make a living off of it too?

It's like saying that sewing is slavery. Tons of people are forced to sew in factories. But tons of other people love sewing, and some of those people get paid for it too.

Hey check it out, feminist porn and erotic art. It's not all that uncommon. And they make a living off of it too.

Well take TV for instance, I haven't watched it that much lately, but as far as I remember you see more naked women than men. I don't mean dirty as in the good dirty, but dirty as in men should never be seen naked on tv. Its more accepted/considered hotter when a woman masturbates or has sex with another woman, than if a man does it(also with another man). But I guess the only way for people to accept any sexuality is if it fits a stereotype.

Oh I have no problems with porn, I was just saying there is a difference between the porn you see in mainstream media and indie porn. Of course, there are big porn sites that also have indie porn, I'm just saying. Oddly enough the porn the "companies" make is as realistic and sexually liberating as being a monk.

    @ Harrison...

I think this discussion rests somewhere between liberal liberation politics in capitalism & an anarchist critique of work an anarchism.

But as anarchists are their any critiques of sex-work or any other "work" for money in a capitalist society where there has been a consensus as to it being anarchist?

Don't get me wrong people are free to do whatever they want with their bodies, i even got into a brief discussion about sex-work and porn with another anarchists while walking through a red light district, south of the border on our way to a bar this past saturday.

This thread was an interesting read.

When it came time to get a job again I considered sex worker on list of stuff that seemed like interesting ways to make money. I got nothing but sympathy/compassion for them after meeting one at a friend's party years ago, after hanging out for a few hours she had to go cause the work phone was ringing, but first she walked my bike home because I was in no condition to ride it, so I gave her $20 and some pizza.

If there is a torrent or download of the doc this thread is about rolling hope it gets posted I would like to watch it some time.

Well, mainstream hairless-jock-fake-fucking-young-blonde-chick-with-fake-tits porn probably isn't good for anyone, but anti-porn feminists sorta have this very parochial view of sexuality that reminds me of how fundies view women....

Definetly, we shouldn't put porn industry and amateur porn / feminist porn on the same bag. I agree with you about the mainstream porn.

...but conversely, I'm not sure sex work is all that liberating (not to get in an go on telling what is and what is not liberating to a particular group of people) ... I mean, yeah for some I'm sure they do so out of choice, and rise to the top,and live happy lives but there's a pretty large portion of female-bodied folk (and others as well) who have to sell that part of themselves as a survival method. ...and then you go into an even darker realm of horror, the young ladies who are kidnapped and sold into sex slavery or who suck cock for drugs. That doesn't deserve glorification.

...and I mean, what John really cares all that much about a lady's motivation for being in that position in the first place..? Hopefully one day we can all live in a world where no one will will ever have to sell themselves to others (time and bodies) for food and shelter...

Unfortunately, relatively few "free" sex workers get to actually work for themselves as most are forced to work for greedy pimps.
