Theres a book called: "A Brief history Of Neoliberalism" by David Harvey... it tells the story of the rise of this new form of capitalism and globalization that affects us all as it now turns to states and to privatize their holdings and sacrifice them to the god or gods of bottom lines and market expansion...

You can get the book in pdf here: http://messhall.org/wp-content/uploads/ ... ralism.pdf

Margaret Thatcher dead: Cheering crowds gather at street parties to celebrate passing of divisive former PM

Hundreds of people across the country took part in impromptu street parties hours after the death of Baroness Thatcher...

People cheered and handed out 'Maggie death cake' today at one of several street parties held to celebrate Margaret Thatcher's death.

Video of the gathering in LEEDS was posted on YouTube and shows dozens of people whooping in delight.

A man can be seen using a megaphone chanting: "Maggie, Maggie, Maggie", to which the crowd reply "dead, dead, dead".

One woman, offering the cameraman "Thatcher death cake", tells him: "We're celebrating."

Looks the like the kind of parties that we said we'd have when Reagan died that never happened. This was the only good thing in the news over breakfast today.

Some words I gone and wrote to commemorate this notable figure:

Some will be there in the streets wishing you farewell -
And there will be a host others shouting 'go to Hell!'
But were you really the witch that they say -
Or were you the saviour of a nation in decay?

Well, the country was in ruins, some might give you that,
With the chaos of the 3 day week, someone had to act,
So you came in with a vision to change this country,
With Victorian values and a Monetarist policy.

You sold the nation's silver, a reduction of the state,
A laissez-faire economy would surely wealth create?
And no one can deny that some money did get made,
But the rich just got richer and the nation still decayed.

Your policy would reduce the debt, that was the classic line,
But the nation's prowess continued to decline,
Kept afloat by oil seemed to justify the plan -
But in reality, the whole thing was a sham.

So now we ask the question: was it justified -
The wrecking of the unions and the great wealth divide?
The snatching of the milk, can we advocate -
The Britain of Margaret Thatcher and the dismantling of the state?

Well, let's be honest, like hell we can!
You gave a fuck about no one, just your visionary scam,
The mindset of your friends from outside the UK -
Rupert Murdoch! Saddam Hussein! and Augusto Pinochet!

Fucking up your nation with your iron will,
The lady's not for turning, take your bitter pill,
Families thrown into the mire of desperate poverty,
But, hey - who gives a fuck when there's no society.

And where was the honour of the Falklands war?
Just a ploy to win the votes from the misguided poor,
For your own interest people fought and died,
And where were your efforts against Apartheid.

Keep your friends close and the foes in the shit,
Whether working on the docks or down in the pit,
All for oneself is the Britain that you spawned,
Darkness descended the day that you dawned.

You said you’d bring harmony to discord, you gave us social ills,
You could have brought Jerusalem, gave dark Satanic mills,
Resolute in your vision, there was just your way,
A single path that we still follow to this day.

For this nation hasn’t escaped you, not even in death,
A stroke may make a corpse but the legacy will not rest,
For Tony and the Third Way, which was much like yours –
With Murdoch ties and PFIs and fucking bullshit wars.

And now we have Cameron and a condemned nation,
With bedroom tax, national cuts and Thatcher infatuation,
The wealthy in this country have never had it this good –
But the rest of us face the cuts and end up fucking screwed.

They try to soften the hate with ‘we’re all in this together’,
Bumbling BoJo, ‘Call me Dave’ – they think they’re oh so clever,
But let us be honest, we know where we are now,
Underneath the thin visage is your malicious, decaying scowl.

So let the people cheer and let them raise a glass,
And let them celebrate that your life has passed,
This might be your time for resting but we haven’t started yet,
There is no resting until Thatcher’s really fucking dead.

Yes, the country was a mess but you just made it worse,
A bane upon your nation - the Iron Lady's curse,
If I could I'd love to disrupt your hearse -
But they'll be millions of others dying to get there first.

In your legacy, establishment truths were borne from lies,
About how support makes one weak and the need to privatise,
And there is one solution to the system we despise,
Death’s no satisfaction: It’s time to organise.

Hundreds of police on stand-by as anarchists threaten to hold mass Margaret Thatcher death 'party'

    - Class War to hold Trafalgar Square demo on Saturday

    - Funeral will see biggest security operation since Olympics

    - 'Ring of steel' on three-mile route of procession

Hundreds of police are on stand-by in London as anarchists threatened a mass “party” in Trafalgar Square to celebrate the death of Margaret Thatcher.

Scotland Yard revealed that it has already launched a major operation to counter threats of disorder in the run up to her funeral next week.

All further leave for officers has been cancelled and operations are being run from a special command and control operations room in Lambeth.

Protesters say a demonstration in Trafalgar Square on Saturday will be a focus for discontent in the run up to next Wednesday’s funeral.

The event is being organised by anarchist group Class War while other groups such as the All London Anarchist Revolutionary Mob, which says it is “committed to radical action to undermine the state,” are also mobilising supporters to attend.

Senior police officers are said to have been initially “quite relaxed” about security in London following Mrs Thatcher’s death but views have hardened since unrest in Brixton and Bristol where seven police officers were injured.

The funeral itself will see the biggest security operation in the UK since the Olympics with hundreds of armed officers forming a “ring of steel” along the three mile procession route from Westminster to St Paul’s Cathedral.

Senior officers, who began planning for the event two years ago, are acutely aware threats could come from militant far left groups, anarchists and Irish terrorists.

Marksmen will be deployed on rooftops and undercover officers will mingle with crowds to spot known trouble makers.

Blanket stop and search powers are expected to be introduced in the run up to the funeral with officers using powers of pre-emptive arrest to target known trouble-makers travelling to the event.

Individuals who are obsessed with Mrs Thatcher will also be vetted to ensure they do not pose a threat at her funeral.

The Met’s Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, which monitors disturbed individuals are obsessed with public figures, has a list of Thatcher fanatics.

Police are already monitoring social networking sites for plans for parties to “celebrate” Mrs Thatcher’s death.

They are aware of the Trafalgar Square event and are preparing an “appropriate” plan to counter any possible trouble.

Police will put in place plans worked out following the 2011 riots in which mobile flying groups of officers will immediately respond to flashpoints of violence and disorder.

Insiders say they are still developing an intelligence picture of the likely threat of disorder.

Organisers of the Trafalgar Square event claim it has been planned for 10 years and will attract anti-Thatcher protesters from around the UK.

It will take place at the scene of some of the worst trouble during the famous poll tax riots.

On its Facebook page, it said: “6pm Saturday, Trafalgar Square, bring a bottle, bring jelly & ice cream, bring joy.”

Class War founder Ian Bone said “thousands” of anti-Thatcher protesters and anarchists would be taking part on Saturday, including people from groups that she historically had confrontations with.

He said: “Miners will be coming down from the north, Wapping printers, steel workers - it will be a big crowd. We are talking thousands.

“It has been planned for years, always for the first Saturday after her death, and it is in the right place, where the Poll Tax riots were taking place.”

In response to call for a statue of Baroness Thatcher to be erected in Trafalgar Square, Mr Bone said protesters planned to install an effigy of the former leader on the 4th plinth which will then be toppled “like Saddam Hussein” in a moment of “liberation and cathartic retribution”.

Mr Bone, 65, said Saturday was likely to be the main focus of protests rather than the funeral on Wednesday because of the massive police presence expected.

He said: “There will be heads of State there, police with guns - anyone who even raises a placard will get lifted, and it’s not worth it to spend 12 hours in a cell.”

The parties have been met with revulsion and condemnation from MPs from across the political divide.

A Met spokesman said : “London's police, the Met, City of London and British Transport Police, are working together to deliver a security operation for Baroness Thatcher's funeral. Given the nature of the event our operation will use of a range of appropriate tactics.

"We do not have the total number of officers at the moment as we are still developing the detail of our operation.

"We are mindful that this occasion has the potential to attract protest. The MPS wishes to speak to anyone who may chose to demonstrate on Wednesday, or in the coming days, so their right to protest can be upheld whilst respecting the rights of Baroness Thatcher's family and those who wish to pay their respects."
