    Scared Of Chaka were a punk rock band based in Albuquerque, New Mexico who formed in 1993 by guitarist/vocalist David Yanul Hernandez, bassist Dameon Waggoner, and drummer Jeff Jones who was later replaced by Ron Skrasek. The band played a Dickies inspired mix of garage and pop-punk, following in the footsteps of local Albuquerque act The Drags.

    Scared Of Chaka released a number of full lengths, 7" EPs, and split records throughout their career for labels like 702 Records, Empty Records, Dirtnap Records and Hopeless Records spin off Sub City Records. With the release of 2001's Crossing with Switchblades the band called it quits. David Hernandez now plays bass for The Shins.

    Label - Empty Records (US)

    American independent label based in Seattle, WA and later to Portland, OR.
    Empty Records added US to its name in 1996 after the split with the German branch with the release r4076023 (#350), continuing the old numbering but with the new catalog number MTR (instead of the old MT).
    The last release on the united branchs (Empty Records) was m395676, #334.
    In 2001, after the end of the lawsuit, since the release #387 (r2641377) changed officially name to Empty Records U.S. (while the German branch took the name 'l213614').
    They closed doors in 2007.

    History: originally founded 1984 in San Francisco, moved to Germany that same year, then relocated in 1987 to Seattle, Washington. From 1984 to 1996 they were partner with the German branch: Musical Tragedies, focusing on the music coming out of the Pacific NW, USA.
