late 90's hardcore punk...

my favorite era of punk rock. not that there aren't amazing things happening now, but i have trouble gettin motivated on newer shit. stuck in the past i guess. i know 35 aint that old, and i love the bands now as well, but i loved this shit from the 90's.... come on brutally familiar?!!!



i'm just sayin, 1) at least on the east coast, it was back before hardcore punk meant jock hardcore dude brahs playing faster than the chugga chugga chug chug of late 90's "hardcore"...

2) it meant civil disobedience, assrash, aus-rotten, mankind?, etcc.... (add yr owon favorite band from this era).

and as far as the late 90's goes, fuck yeah showcase showdown.

The 90s were quite good to crust. I love Initial State, Damad, His Hero Is Gone, Dystopia, there is such a vast pool of activity from those times, it was kinda back when being a punk still kinda had some inherent or at least implied radical connotation. Alot of real radical views expressed by many bands at this time. That being said I also love pretty much everything from out of the east bay scene. I love fifteen, Pinhead Gunpowder, Grimple, The Wunder Years, so many more. Yeah, lotsa good stuff came outta the ninties.

Yeah there were a lot of good bands in the late 90s in the scene I grew up in (Ventura County California). The Missing 23rd, Uphill battle, Shot in the face, Kenji, Eat Shit and Die, Destroy Babylon. Good times and good music. Most those bands aren't around anymore. A local underground radio station actually had a couple shows recently where they only played bands from the 90s in the Oxnard/Ventura scene. It was pretty cool and brought back a lot of good memories

plus the early 90's is when i started goin to local matinee shows. mostly corny "alternative" bands, but it was all DIY and fun, and once in awhile a hardcore band played like big mistake and next thing you know i was seeing the pist, brutally familiar, mankind, vomit punx, almost every other weekend. then locally we started formin our own bands like the afflicted, blackball corey feldman, ritalin and many more. twas a good time.
